We seriously have to do something for this forum, it's been kind of dead and it can't be this way, this is about Kate Hepburn!!
Any suggestions?

School can get in the way for the majority of our little forum's population, although one would think that class work = procrastination = lurking the board = random and ridiculous posts at 4 AM = this EXTREME!GarsonKanin .gif I made for no clear reason. (Those of you scratching your heads as to what an 'EXTREME!GarsonKanin' may be, please to be clicking this link: extremeadvertisements.com/ It's probably healthy you had no idea what that meant, anyway.) And no, I am not posting that late-night wtfery on here. As I was saying, I have done well with handling that stupidity this semester, but maybe it's because I won't be registered for any classes 'till the summer... What is this life. We're getting TAQ out on bluray in overdue fashion, so I'm sure the forum will be a-buzz with news and shinformation of that ilk. Honestly, things are lying pretty low in Kate world at the moment, but that isn't to say we've all lost interest in the old girl. Hardly. The theatre is picking its feet up, so it's exciting to see just exactly how the facility will be used in the future. The forum celebrates its 5th Anniversary. (Hiiii, everybody!!) This new Chandler book is deliciously awful, but not without its few maybe?possibly?authentic anecdotes. [The WOTY snippet sounds legitimate and characteristic of them, at least.] Did anyone see TCM's plug for it, a little earlier in the month? Who's in charge over at HQ, Bob-O? I know most things need to be run by him before they're tossed on the air, but a Chandler bio?! Must have been a slow news week. We're all just rollin' along. I would suggest we do a Group Film Watch, however the time zones make hosting something like that difficult. We'll see!

Ooh, Amber, what's the WOTY snippet?? I'm glad somebody made the sacrifice of reading the "book".
And yeah, school, the lack of KH-related news besides the "book"...somebody needs to uncover some new papers or something. Geez, Kate. Way to not be newsworthy. Ah well, the stamp. I will have to procure this somehow. Looks like a quick trip south of the border is in the future...

I have to agree with school playing a large part in not being able to enjoy this board more often for myself at least ...although with procrastination comes fun board lurking moments lol I can't wait until AQ comes out on blu-ray and although I haven't purchased the Chandler bio yet I have perused it on Google books and it looks juicy...even if it's awful its still publicity I guess? I hope this summer will be Kate-tastic...with the stamp and AQ etc...but I definitely haven't forgotten Kate...I'm writing another paper on her life and legacy for my History senior paper lol My professor calls me Kate Hep lol Court

Ooh, Amber, what's the WOTY snippet?? I'm glad somebody made the sacrifice of reading the "book". I've read it, sorry to say. Bad fan fiction that doesn't remotely sound like Hepburn. And offensive that she would try to pass this stuff off as legit conversations. Long passages in quotes. Absurd. Whatever's legitimate she took from another source - but you'd never know WHICH source because source notes are just a big, old bother to her, apparently. The rest is just - to quote the great Miss Hepburn's word for Equus when I met her many years ago - twaddle. IMO.

I figured it wouldn't be worth buying. Chandler's Davis book was awful, too. Let's all wait for the James Curtis, then. Fourteen months. Hope it's worth the wait. Thanks for the heads-up.

Honeychild, if there is ONE thing that Katharine Hepburn does not need more of it's publicity. I really wouldn't shell out the money to buy this, as Judy as Kate put it, "twaddle." From what I've allowed myself to read on Google Books, one would think Chandler has played-out her own fantasies within its pages and slapped Kate's mug on the cover. "....he took my breath away," gave me such chills of the Douche variety that I X'd out of the page. Sift through it on Amazon Preview if you're curious about the WOTY story, because it's cute and not overly-indulgent in romanticism, which leads me to believe it's true (I'm trying to convince myself that I didn't just waste 2 hours of my life previewing this mess). Couldn't tell you who said what, as Chandler finds it a hard task not to speak in pronouns. If you still can't find it, I'll be happy to transcribe.

I try to be on here as much as possible but school gets in the way. I'm writing a research paper on Kate, how she helped change American women in the 30's and 40's.
Could we advertise the board more? I looked and looked to find a KH board and found a link off of someones KH blog after many weeks of searching. It doesn't come up when you google it. Perhaps put a link on her IMDB disscussion page? Maybe make people post so many times in order to see certain area's? I know on another board that was done and it forced be too post more.

Sorry to put you within ten feet of the book again, Amber, but could you transcribe? Haha. I guess Amazon shows different parts to different people. Thanks. And star- I think you've definitely created some more activity on this board

Unless you want to see a friendly, civil group turn into something not so friendly and definitely not so civil. Which I know you don't.

I second Judy's vote, on the grounds that sharing with imdb would be the Internet-equivalent of shooting ourselves in the foot. A fresh view might be what this forum needs, but I have no idea how to go about "recruiting" people, so to speak. And here you are, Rachael: And this: Hi, insomnia.

Terrific little avatar you got there, chum. Love it. When UP came out, I'd read how the creators were thinking Spencer Tracy and Walter Matthau for their lead. And, of course, there's no mistaking the resemblance to Old Pot. But what I was waiting to read but never found, was how the first, what, 20 minutes is most definitely a Tracy-Hepburn movie. At least that's the way I viewed it. It's my favorite part of the movie.

I too would vote NO for the imdb thing - the kind atmosphere here might be gone then As for the book - a disappointment - wish I had saved my money and used them for something more worth while

Almost forgot - AAK does have a link on the legal page to this board. And if the site gets mail from interested readers with questions - I do refer them to join here (besides of answering as good as I can). Which I assume some have.
What about some of you who are on livejournal / tumblr or similar sites - refer to this board as well?!

Sorry I guess that's my PR background coming out with publicity info lol! I do believe it would be nice to have a larger group activity but I don't know about a link on Imdb...if anything perhaps a link on the Kate facebook page or one on FYSK on Tumblr? Just small suggestions while I'm stalking the board waiting for my women's studies class to begin. Lol!
PS I think that everyone is writing a paper or has written a paper about Kate lol!
