I just recently found out that Kate was a Godmother twice ...I knew about Stephen Bogart...which is so sweet but I had no idea that she was Kenneth Tynan's daughter Tracy's Godmother as well I must have missed that somewhere? There is mixed talk that Tracy who was born in 1952 and is a major motion picture costume designer in Hollywood was named after Spencer Tracy but in the article I read she was named after Kate's character Tracy in "The Philadelphia Story" Are they her only Godchildren? Court Here is the article in the NY Times... www.nytimes.com/2008/02/15/travel/escapes/15Away.html?_r=1

She was godmother to Kat Kramer, Stanley Kramer's daughter (named for her), and Sam Robards, Bacall's son with Jason Robards (I think you mean him instead of Steve Bogart- Stephen's godparents were- um- I can't remember who, but Louis Bromfield was one). I'm guessing probably at least one of her nieces and nephews, too.

Sorry I meant Sam I was just looking at that adorable picture of her and Steve and I messed up..oops lol ... Oh...forgot about Kat too...wow she sure was a favorite pick to be Godmother ...I still think she would have been an amazing mom...even though she said she didn't like children I think we all know different Court

There's a big difference between liking kids and wanting them. I'm sure she enjoyed interacting with children of friends, young costars, etc, but she obviously knew that to have one relying on her would be vastly different.

I understand that point perfectly...I just wonder if having children would have affected her and her work drastically?...many film stars have/had nannies and she had a huge family herself to help out when needed?... I guess only in a dream world then....even though I'm sure anyone would have to quote a line from "State of the Union"..."given their right arm up to here" to be hers lol Court

Loving that new signature Dreamer!
Interesting thread. Wow - she was so many peoples godmothers lol I wonder how much if at all she saw all of the children. I seem to recall a few paparazzi type pictures of Kate and a girl child but I think that was an actual family member, a niece perhaps. I don't know much about this all yet, so I'm completely clueless with this topic but am intregued nonetheless.
Kate, Ginger Rogers, any other big names around that era that didn't have children? I can't even think of any more, I'm sure there were a few big names.. hmmmmm..

Garbo too.
As for Kate's godchildren, she seemed to have a good relationship with Kat Kramer- she talks about her quite warmly in the CNN tribute to KH. Apparently KH referred to her as her "baby" lol. And I'm sure that, being friends with Bacall, she saw plenty of Sam.

Oh of course Garbo. I didn't know about Myrna though!
Ow I didn't know about 'baby' cuteness. So many people were nicknamed Baby back in the day lol Kat Kramer, Betty Bacall.. it's all coming together in the Kate circle of life lol
