Amanda. I::Love::YOU!!! How the freak did you find these? !! Isn't it a shame that people and studios can't work together properly to show all the fans these great clips as extras on the DVDs. To see Vernon and Irene in colour. Oy. What hard work the extras in that scene had sitting and adoring Fred & Ginger at their dinner tables. Oy. Jealous much Jess. Jess

OMG yay all 10 F&G films! The crappest one is the first one for obvious reasons.
Although I love Roberta, I always am annoyed that they are not the major players. Although there are some great numbers throughout.
Have you seen Carefree yet? I can't remember if you said you had. If you're into music 24/7, it might not be your favourite, but stay with it. Some great numbers and a great comedic performance by Ginger. "Change Partners" is a particularly gorgeous number. Not to mention "The Yam" which I'm sad to say I know all of the dance moves too and religiously jump out of my chair and start dancing when it's on. Oh and if you ever find the glorious "Colourblind" in colour, don't hesitate to post it here immediately! So sad they didn't put that number in colour! Those cheapskates at RKO. Oh and there's a cute intro by Ava Astaire which is nice.
You'll have to let us know your final verdict when you've watched them all.
I think the first movie I ever saw was actually "Shall We Dance" which I got in a 2 pack with "Follow The Fleet". They're kind of strange movies we don't hear so much about these days, but have great numbers throughout (especially SWD).
I'm so excited for your boxset! Yay!

I've actually seen all but 'The Gay Divorcee'. I really wanted to own the movies AND see Partners in Rhythm which I couldn't find anywhere. The box set is fun. It comes with some posters and photos. I'm not sure what my favorite is....I'm in love with the music in Top Hat and all the supporting charaters. On the other hand I love Swingtime and Follow the Fleet. I don't know! I can't pick lol. I do find myself singing "The Piccolino" sometimes though, I LOVE that dress. I need to watch "Carefree" again, I liked it but I don't really rememeber it. Although in Ginger's auto she said there never was any color film taken of "Colourblind" but maybe there was a camera somwhere that she didn't know about... I am suddenly becoming a Ginger Rogers freak, Kate will always be my number one but Ginger has my attention right now. Jess to bad you didn't live an ocean away, we would have WAYYYYY too much fun watching movies till midnight.

Just saw The Gay Divorcee in my film class the other day. Well, my professor put the DVD in, but it was all scratched and wouldn't play. Since this was not the first of his DVDs to be damaged, I thought I would be smart and bring along my copy of the DVD from my box set. It was pretty funny when I pulled out the DVD from my backpack and handed it to him. Needless to say, he was quite shocked, and the rest of the class thought I was nuts.

Haha Alicia, that's hilarious. A similar thing happened to me in high school when the teacher wanted us to watch Annie for some reason and couldn't find it in the school library so I showed up with it the next day lol
Amanda, oy - we would have loads of Ginger fun. I love the girl! Have you seen 'I'll Be Seeing You'? I think that's my favourite non F&G movie of hers.
Oh and about The Gay Divorcee - I LOVE that movie. If you loved 'The Piccolino' you will love 'The Continental' (The Gay Divorcee's version lol)!
My grandparents taped The Travelling Saleslady for me because they have cable TV and I don't. I was so excited to watch it but I fell asleep lol I don't know if it was really bad or if it was because I was sick this week with the flu, so I'll have to give it another chance!

Hmm I can't find it on YT although it doesn't mean it's not there. Let me know if you can't find it. It's a great movie. A teenage Shirley Temple is in it too, and gives quite the little performance. OMG I didn't even realise Clint Eastwood was in the movie, that's how much I remember of it haha.. it's totally comedy western style which isn't always my cup of tea, but I've got to give it another go now that I can see the interesting cast members! lol There is on YouTube a Ginger movie called Tales of Manhattan. Not sure what it's like and I can't watch the entire film cause I don't have a great amount of GB per month on my computer, but here's the link if you're interested: www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1aXVxNAcKYJess

Tales of Manhattan is good. It has a lot of stars in it and they each have their own little section with this 'traveling coat'. Ginger's part was good, I think Henry Fonda is in it also.
I'll look around for "I'll Be Seeing You". Thanks for the tip.
Ohh and I'm watching The Gay Divorcee now and I think I've seen it. I have to laugh 1/2 the cast from Top Hat is in this. I'm getting confused lol
