good idea Martha. I'll see if they have anything similar to what looks like on the website and I'll ask them to weigh it in grams and then convert it for me. Not sure what their reaction will be, but we'll have a go lol

received my first day cancellations (envelops with kate stamp on them cancelled with postal mark from Old Saybrook) and a copy of the commemorative program .. haven't yet received my substantial supply of the stamps themselves. can't wait to start writing change of address notes .. using them. now THERE'S a reason to pen a few letters ....

My uncle is picking them up for me in the States...but he's not exactly well-versed in classic movies so I'm terrified he'll proudly show me the Bette Davis stamps he bought

and a delicious write up of the ceremony and feel of the crowd, ms. judy. delightful! Thanks, Martha. When they reached for the ropes to loosen the Postal Service covering that concealed the large facsimile of the stamp, it was simultaneously exciting and unexpectedly moving. As if Kate had walked out on stage. There was something quite wonderful about having the ceremony not only in a theatre but in one so beautiful, named for her. And not in any town, but in her town.

Indeed, that writeup was excellent! Sounds like a very touching ceremony...it's so good that so many from KH's life were able to be there.

Just got my stamps! I just happened to be by the post office, and I decided to see if they had them but I wasn't expecting anything. I bought the sheet with the write up on the back, which I agree is very well written. I wanted to buy a frame for my stamps so I could display them, and my mom thought I was being ridiculous. lol

It's worse when you are an "old lady" like me and tell your husband DO NOT USE THE KATHARINE HEPBURN STAMPS -- although at this point, he already KNEW there'd be no way a Kate stamp would end up an envelope in our house. :-) My local PO has already re-ordered because their initial supply went quickly. My advice to everyone -- if you can -- order them online directly from the postal service website -- they arrive quickly.
