I've only read Kate's book Me and am 1/2 way through Berg's book. Both, especially Kate's seem very truthful but I have gotten a hold of the people magazine's tribute to her and in the beginning they are saying some intressting stuff about her life. They discribed Tracy as an abusive drunk (which I have heard that he was), they talked about her father beating her as a child, and about Tom's death. So far in Berg's and no where in Kath's was any of this mentioned. Who do I believe? Was Kate just trying to ignore what really happened? Are there some books out there that 'expose' more dirt that others? If so which ones? Are there other books out there like Kate's and Berg's which focus more on her career? Am I reading into things too much?

If you read the discussions of the individual books' topics on this board, you'll find out more, but all Kate biographies are definitely not created equal. Go for "Tracy and Hepburn" by Garson Kanin for personal stuff, or "At Home With Kate" by Eileen Considine-Meara, "Knowing Hepburn" by James Prideaux, or "The Private World of Katharine Hepburn" by John Bryson. "A Special Kind of Magic" is good for career, since it's all about GWCTD.
I would say believe Kate. A lot of these authors twist facts very badly. And she told us what she wanted us to know, anyway. And if you read a lot of them- they throw together a general story- with lots of different sources and explanations- and you learn to sift. Some stuff is just not plausible.
