She was an Italian? actress who was quite popular at the time and was a friend of Katharine. Unfortunately she died quite young in 1948 and has been largely forgotten .

When Katharine first came to Hollywood I believe they tried to get her to do some cheesecake photographs - she refused as she said the role of A Bill in Divorcement was a serious, dramatic role and the pictures they wanted would have been inappropriate .
I believe that RKO didn't quite know what to do with Katharine at first .
But its great to see a different side of Katharine

Um, remind me who Elissa Landi is. In 1933 Elissa Landi starred in the film version of The Warrior's Husband which Kate had starred in on Broadway in 1932. Landi's leading man in The Warrior's Husband was David Manners who starred as Kate's fiance in A Bill of Divorcement in 1932 which was her first film. Landi eventually left films and turned to writing novels. She died in 1948 at the age of 43.

That's something I'd like to see....little bit of a crush on David Manners.....very cute. Judy
