I found this quote from some where...thought I'd share...it isn't all that great about Kate...but at least Spence tells Myrna "I found the woman I want"...even though he was drunk at the time "We both happened to be in New York when Benny Thau called from Hollywood: 'Myrna, we're waiting to start Tracy's picture and he's there on a bender, holed up at the River House with his male nurse. See what you can do?' I called; Spence asked, 'Where are you?' and I told him. I shouldn't have. He was at the door of my St. Regis suite in no time. Days of drinking had left him belligerent. He made his usual play for me, bringing his fist down with such emphatic frustration at one point that he smashed a glass-topped coffee table. Then he turned defensive. 'You don't have to worry about me anymore,' he said like a sulky child. 'I've found the woman I want.' As he outlined the virtues of Katharine Hepburn, I was relieved, but also a bit disappointed. As selfish as it sounds, I liked having a man like Spence in the background wanting me. It's rather nice when nothing's required in return."

It's a bit all over the place, "As he outlined the virtues of Katharine Hepburn" whatever that means. A quote would have been nice Myrna! But all in all this is ENTIRELY CUTE! I have no idea how I missed this thread before so sorry for the extremely late reply, but thanks just the same for posting this Courtney!
P.S. Is Myrna implying (I have no idea by the way, at all, whatsoever) that she had some sort of fling with Spence as well? "I liked having a man like Spence in the background wanting me".

I'd say "fling" is too strong a word, but Spencer definitely inhabited an appeal, a majesty---that's without a doubt. The ability to woo without even trying. He had that with every woman he encountered, I think. Rare.
I'm convinced that every female under contract to either FOX or METRO had the controversial, but nonetheless irrefutable, 'Mr. Potato Head Complex' that you may find in Freud's recently obtained secret diaries: The 'So Gross That Even I Feel Skeevy About Publishing This' Edition.
