This is hardly the appropriate thread to post this, but WOTY is being discussed here! Alyssa, WOTY (musical adaptation) clips are available up on youtube [youtube SO ridiculous]. One with our Beloved Bacall: www.youtube.com/watch?v=uivs33_i0Rc[terrible quality, but better than nuthin'...] Another with Raquel Welch and Marilyn Cooper www.youtube.com/watch?v=uivs33_i0RcI'm pretty sure Tess Harding would have been repulsed by that booby dress. Other than that [and the fact that I am perplexed that Welch was even considered for the part], Marilyn Cooper is wonderful. Yo doodlebug, I think you posted the same link twice. I wanted to see Welch in the repulsive booby dress haha. I am also quite amazed that she was even considered as well lol...

Note the way RW butchers the punchline: I've already had your husband. Then think of Bacall - dry, sly, worldly, growly Bacall - saying the same line. Got a big laugh every time.

Mmmhmm, she sang it as though that punchline were in a different language---as in phonetically the right words, but devoid of any snark, wit or comedic timing.

But most important, absent of comic timing. The whole performance was like that. I have nothing against RW. The reason I got and sound so critical about it all is that it was an example of someone who sort of insulted the form. She was on a Broadway stage and treated it like it was a club in Vegas strip. Nothing wrong with a club in Vegas, but it's a different kind of discipline. And I thought she ruined the show because of her lack of understanding of the difference. And, to me, it read like disrespect.
