Another "Hollywood at Home" issue ... Diane Keaton is on the cover, lolling on her California porch with her big blonde doggie (pretty the two of 'em) .. so i picked it up. .. among the treasures inside, extended pieces on Bogart in the early 1940s (before Bacall); Marilyn Monroe and some gorgeous black and whites ... and Duke Wayne, ... and amidst the many treasures, our Kate.
1st, as a full page image in an essay entitled "The Art of the Poster: A collection of Hand-Painted Gems conjures Old Hollywood" .. features a very GONE WITH THE WIND (night on the bridge, burning of atlanta, Rhett and Scarlett, y'all know what i mean) kind of warm burnished tone painted image of Kate and Robert Taylor for UNDERCURRENT ... yum. p. 211.
Then a few pages later (p.216) text by A. Scott Berg to accompany the same picture that appears on pp. 36-37 of Bryson's 'The Private World of Katharine Hepburn" (that marvelous over-sized picture book) .. from across the room, in the Fenwick kitchen, Kate cleaning up. khaki pants, denim shirt, red tied sweater, hair upswept. bottle of lotion and other detritus on the kitchen table. a life lived.
just thought i'd share. if there's interest in the UNDERCURRENT poster, i'll scan.
