Any of you ever watched the Katharine Hepburn World of Stories video? I got it years ago as a Christmas present when my children were small - a sort of joint gift I suppose. She narrates half a dozen well- loved story tales which her Grandfather used to tell her as a child.
But why do you think The Musicians of Bremen was her all-time favourite fairy tale? What was it that appealed to her so much, and does this give any insights into her own charatcter?

Jack and the Beanstalk, The Nightingale, The Musicians of Bremen, Beauty and the Beast, The Emperor's New Clothes, and Tattercoats.
Her love of the Musicians of Bremen is mentioned in several articles/biographies, but I don't remember reading anything about any of the others..........

I've got i as well. Think it is terrific.
About the The Musicians of Bremen. Think it is because of the carrying of each other. She herself was, once she became a friend, a friend for life, always willing to help. And the Musicians of Bremen are -a rabbit, a dog, a rooster, a donkey (for those who don't know the fairy tale)- all taking care of each other even though they are not the same and therefore getting to their goal.

Hi Dreamer, I think you nailed it on the Musicians of Bremen. It is a sweet story and made sweeter by the fact that they become a little family and we all know that family was very important to Kate -- whether it was her biological family or the "family" of friends that she kept throughout her life.
