Hi All,
Great news TCM is going to broadcast the interview that Dick Cavett did with Kate back in the early 1970's. If you've never seen it, you are in for a real treat because this is a wonderful interview. Kate was funny, thrilling, fascinating, and utterly charming. She melted Cavett with her charm and wit and intelligence.

LOL.. YES. With commentary by anyone that ever knew her/looked at her/stood next to her in line at the Fenwick ice cream shop/breathed next to her. You know it would be the top selling set for like a year.

THAT would be great. We should totally market that. Because that's entirely possible ;D But you're right, it would totally sell like hotcakes (although I'm not really sure how well hotcakes sell . . . they're not a huge favorite of mine anyway. How did they come up with that?). Judy would totally be in it too!! She's breathed the same air as Kate. AND TALKED to her! Actually talked to Katharine Hepburn. I'm still jealous. Sorry Judy ;D

LOL - Shaun -- I want that 80 DVD set that you proposed and Metrostah -- I want the commentaries that you've suggested to be the 'extras' on that 80 DVD set.
Also -- let me add that the Barbara Walters interviews are very good but the Dick Cavett is the best because at that point Kate was a very "young" 66 and the atmosphere in the studio when he did the interview was electric -- you can feel it as you watch. Plus it's a rare opportunity to see Kate being full blast charming and even rather flirty -- she knew that Cavett was a fan AND he actually had acted with her in 1957 at the American Shakespeare Festival in Stratford, CT. in "The Merchant of Venice" -- he is listed in the cast as being one of the Attendants, Citizens, Dignitaries. Cavett was thrilled to have her do the interview and he was boyishly charming and and you can so easily imagine yourself in his shoes having the opportunity to talk to Kate . Plus -- they discussed numerous topics -- personally -- I prefer this interview to all of the other televised interviews that she did.
In regard to the one with Phil Donahue, for me, it's a very painful interview to see because although I was a big fan of Donahue, I felt that this was not a good interview. He is rather smarmy when he talks to Kate about her relationship with Spencer. I felt that he was quite disrepectful of Kate and at one point, she even reprimanded him for a comment that he made during the interview. I felt that Donahue actually "blew" this interview. It could have been so much more and the tone he used with her, made it so much less.
But Cavett's interview, I love and you will love it, too, and if the gods are with us, it will come out on DVD after TCM shows it and if it doesn't, well guys, get your DVDs, DVRs, and VCRs ready.

Will do Sherry! Hehe, the only reason I said the Donahue interview was because I wanted to see her totally get back at him for being such an ass to her.
What'd she do? He asked for an autograph and she said sure, "But what's your name again?" LMAO!!
