Thanks for letting us know Judy. Is the boxed set the one that includes the book as well? Mine's falling apart and I wouldn't mind getting a new one...

Thanks for letting us know Judy. Is the boxed set the one that includes the book as well? Mine's falling apart and I wouldn't mind getting a new one... Yep. The boxed set (both DVD and Blu-ray versions) includes 2 discs: One disc includes the film and the documentary, and the other is a CD with the radio broadcast. Both boxed sets also include the book, the 8 postcard-sized photos and the Senitype film strip. I have the boxed set DVD (I don't own a Blu-ray player either) but I also have the single DVD. The single DVD only includes the one disc, which has on it the movie and the documentary.

Oh wow, I guess I am missing a lot more than I thought! I only got the single DVD version. The store I went to only had that in stock... If I had known, I would have shopped around more for the boxed set. Oh well-- thanks for the info! I'm eager to see what the film looks like in its newly restored state! The only version I've seen was on the VHS, and another version on the big screen, and both were very color faded and poor quality. Hopefully I will get the chance to watch the new DVD tonight.

Ho hum hai, did I forget to mention that I bought this sucker on blu-ray, despite not possessing the technology on which to view it? Yeah, I went out and sold what little there was left of my soul that college hasn't consumed and purchased the commemorative box set, to boot. Ya'll, have no fear, I just really needed to own that senitype frame set of the Queen lookin' all regal and fuchsia and stuff, as if Rainbow Bright Herself envisioned it in a dream. What am I saying. Point is: Look Ma', I AM A SMART SHOPPER! B-B-But! Conveniently, the cinema boutique/cafe down the block from me--you know, that place where I interned back when I was still in knee socks; and when I say "interned" I actually mean "screened TPS on a constant loop and gained 10 lbs. off of stale popcorn"--was in need of a good copy of the film, so I loaned them mine. Whoo-hoo, free screenings of TAQ and all the bland poppin' corn I want! Having only heard through word-of-mouth about the documentary, may I ask one question? WHY IS WILLIAM J. MANN A TALKING HEAD IN THIS THING? Wondering where the hell Betty B. hid herself, Amber P.S. I just keep upping the ante in ~quality posts on this board...

I'm watching it now and I really like the color restoration! I'm saving the special features for later.

Having only heard through word-of-mouth about the documentary, may I ask one question? WHY IS WILLIAM J. MANN A TALKING HEAD IN THIS THING? repeated exposure to this dude's limited intelligence just ... illustrates his .. wait what was it? .. oh right .. limited intelligence. [there are purposed "experts" who emerge, belligerently, in the garland fand world from time to time .. and they also fade away ... but ow.] does *he* do a commentary track? i suppose that could be a little bit entertaining. with a cocktail. maybe.

Agreed. She was really allowed to look like herself in this movie- although the glamour of Hollywood is lovely, this was a wonderful change. I would even call her sexy in this one. There's something about her that's a lot more...real. And the fact that it's in colour certainly helps.

Carol, ain't it a treat. I mean it would be pretty alright if they were in a B movie but Bogie and Kathy in this great film, such greatness!
I also think it's a way more natural look than we're used to seeing, she's so appealing in the film that you kind of hang on her every word.
CFK, I also love her hair. It's kind of shabby chic. What can I say, the girl rocks a high bun any day. But I like when it gets to the half up half down stage best.

Jess, totally! They're so amazing together! I love when Bogie says that they're not going to go down the river after all, and then Kate says 'Of course we are, what an absurd idea.' and Bogie starts imitating her!! And I love that she kind of wants to laugh, but she can't lol It's one of my favourite parts!
I agree, she looks beautiful..there's something about her skin. She kind of glows. She's so beautiful.
