As we all know, Katharine was a very active & athletic woman on stage, screen and in real life. And for this reason she was able to perform her own stunts in her movies.
One exception to this was when she had to ride a bike in The Corn is Green, and apparently she also had a stunt double in BUB (Helen Thurston). Anyone know what for - the final shot where she's hanging off the dinosaur skeleton maybe? (Cary also had a stunt double for the same film)
Anyone know of any other stunts Kate didn't do herself?

She and Cary probably had stunt doubles because of the leopard--I guess RKO didn't want to risk getting their stars mauled. Kate probably objected at first whereas Cary was probably very pleased...he didn't like working with that leopard. ;D Also that scene at the end of the movie. Other than BUB and The Corn is Green, I can't think of a time when Kate had to use a stunt double.

Although I can't back it up with proof, I feel pretty certain that just at the point where the dinosaur falls and she is swung a bit wildly that ain't Kate. Always cringe, though, when the very next shot shows her hanging from her arm as Cary lifts her up. How did her shoulder not become dislocated??? I'm sure he rehearsed how to hold her and they were both so athletic. Still..makes me cringe....Laugh and cringe... Judy

I thought that whole dinosaur collapsing scene was sweet, and for some reason I did think it was Kate. It completely matched her character.

It's absolutely her as she climbs on top of it but when it falls and it goes to that long shot of her swinging wildly - just for a second - THAT'S when I'm pretty sure it's not her. Then there's a cut back to the real Kate being held by her wrist. That's my take on it anyway... There are certainly scenes when they are not in the same room as the leopard, but then there are those, like when she first calls David, sitting at her vanity. That ain't no split screen.:-) Judy

Oh that scene! I cringe because whoever it is hits her shin on one of the bars of the scaffolding! She was pretty upset about having a double in The Corn is Green. She didn't like the fact that she became winded after riding that bike. My heart broke for her when I read about that (can't remember where). She tried and tried but couldn't get up that hill.

I think you'll find Kate told the story herself in Me
And I guess Judy's right - the long shot dangling on the scaffolding looks like it could easily be a double. As for the leopard shots, I'm sure I read somewhere that Kate did all those scenes herself, with a slightly drugged Baby and the lion tamer close at hand. Cary though, by all reports, was scared stiff and they had great fun teasing him on set.

During a scene in BUB, in Kate's living room when Cary Grant first encounters Baby, I'm pretty sure you can see glass between the leopard and Kate & Cary -- I can't remember if we confirmed that or not. We had to rewind and pause a couple of times but I can't remember the outcome of it lol We saw a reflection. Then in the same scene, they use a dummy. It's pretty funny too because it looks like the cat's smiling.

Is that the scene where he goes into the bathroom? You can definately see the glass in that scene. Love this film!

Where's the scene with the dummy leopard?
I always miss the scene in the bathroom with the mirror...I can never catch the reflection. I'm going blind.
