I would go with Holiday. She's just so charming and sweet, and brings out everything appealing in Linda. Did anybody honestly NOT want to run away with her? A character with so much of the Hepburn spirit, and yet much different. It was so nuanced- everything in her performance spoke of the years in that strange family, and she only really seemed to "take off" when Johnny showed up.
It's a shame that "box-office poison" was going on at the time- she should have been nominated for this, or BUB, but especially this.
Honourable mention: Bringing Up Baby, Little Women (should have won for that instead of Morning Glory IMO), Adam's Rib, Without Love, Stage Door

I'm gonna go with Bringing up Baby, Holiday and Stage Door. It really is a shame that that was the box office poison period, because those are really good performances.

Definitely BUB. I love Susan so much! It's weird that this movie lost so much money, while it is considered a classic now.

Exactly!! BUB is IMO the best movie from the 30's. It's funny that some movies back then were flops but are classics now. For instance, I read that Vertigo was a total flop when it came out. And now it's one of the big cinema classics.

Was Vertigo really a flop when it came out? Can't believe it. This is now one of my favourite movies.

Yeah, I read that the main reason was that people thought Jimmy Stewart looked too old for the part. It's one of my favourite movies as well. It's really amazing.

I'd have to say Little Women, based on what little I caught of it while recording it on TCM Christmas Day. (Can't wait to watch it! )

You should definitely watch it. Apart from Bringing up baby, this is my favourite non-nominated performance. She should have won an Oscar for this, instead of Morning Glory.
