Oh, how wonderful. Have only ever seen those miserly, two-second clips. This thing is great...except for the little speeded up portion when ST walks out. Or is that just on MY computer. Anyway. This is mighty fine. Thanks for posting! Judy

I LOVE that clip. Mickey Mouse Spencer! Kate looks slightly bored...no surprise there.

Haha yeah Kate does look rather bored. My favorite was Buster Keaton, who just looked confused in every shot. I never realized he might actually be that way off camera.

I LOVE that clip. Mickey Mouse Spencer! Kate looks slightly bored...no surprise there. Actually, she doesn't look bored to me; she looks likes she's in deep conversation with Lena Horne and joking around with Van Heflin. This kind of thing was not her cup of tea, to be sure, but she DID have respect for the place and her employer and she was a professional, so she showed up. I love the folks who came in costume. You just know that right after lunch or the photo op, they had to be back on the set. Great clip...And so LONG. Heaven.

Haha yeah Kate does look rather bored. My favorite was Harold Lloyd, who just looked confused in every shot. I never realized he might actually be that way off camera. If you mean Buster Keaton....I'm fairly certain it was an act for the cameras.

lol I changed it just as you were posting that. wow you're quick! And I feel quite embarrassed. hehe. Its been an awfully long time since I've seen any of those silent comedies that I used to enjoy so much. Looks like its time for a re-watch, eh? I suppose it was an act, but I have never seen him outside of a film so i really have no clue.
Yeah you're right. on second look, she does appear to be quite involved in her conversations. But I certainly don't think she was too thrilled by the event.

I meant in the intro, Judy, not the part with Lena Horne. She certainly looked as if she was enjoying Horne's company- though who wouldn't?

I guess I don't see more boredom on her than I do on anyone else. It was a studio function and they all knew why they were there: to schmooze for the camera and eat some rubber chicken. Actually, to me she looks quite relaxed and alert rather than bored. Oh well. I had no idea they all had to be introduced and make an entrance, like a football team. THAT, I'm sure was a bit awkward for all of them, but it was fun to see.

Just eating and looking around as the camera pans past. Spencer Tracy seems to be having a good time - in fact most of them seem in good spirits. Gable making Gardner laugh, etc. Great clip. Wish we know what Kate was gesticulating so strongly about to Lena....Amber, why do I feel you'll come up with a suggestion....

You're right- the whole sequence must have been a tad awkward. But they carried it off well. I certainly did not mean to imply she was anything less than professional!
I bet she's trying to convince Lena Horne of some opinion very dear to her of which Miss Horne does not share.
It is just so neat to see all these stars together at once. Do you know who was doing the announcements at the beginning?
Even though there were many flaws with the studio system...and movies are wonderful today too....that era just can't be replaced.

The announcer was George Murphy. I'd like to know who they were each looking at or talking to before they come out. They are all looking slightly to their left just before they come up the steps. I know there were studio people there to guide them but it seems like they were talking to one of them, too.

Seems to me Kate was on Cloud 9. Here she is included with people she adored. Spencer Tracy, Ethel Barrymore, Judy Garland....on and on. The Lena thing seems like a discussion about bettering the lot of Mankind. "We have to reform!" (Kudos to Kit).
The rest, especially Mr. Tracy and Mr. Keaton seemed to be alot of acting. What a bunch of troupers. And enduring Mr. Mayer!

Why yes, Judy, there is. The the sight of Dean Stockwell sitting at the table back of Miss Hepburn. Who knew that 12/13 years later, they'd be so stunning in a film together.
