It seems like every movie Kate was in she had to play the piano. Yes she was good at faking it but don't you think after the...5th film she would have taken lessons? It might have made life easier.
Can anyone think of the movies in which she 'played'?
Song of Love Undercurrent Without Love
I know there are A LOT more but my mind went blank.

At the moment I can only think of 4 more Break of Hearts Woman of the Year The Sea of Grass The African Queenbut I am positive that there are more. Am not sure she was faking it as much as we are to believe - after all she could read notes - hence her violin lessons as a kid. :Giggles: as we have learned - Kate did want to give her best. Anyway she did have lessons for The West Side Waltz. And I would guess that she did so previously as well.

Great topic. I rewind and replay the Without Love piano scene (well, the song Spence plays anyway) over and over and over and over and over.. I need that little clip so it's easier haha.. it is a lovely piece of music and although Kate doesn't play it, her acting throughout is flawless!
Okay, back to topic. Um no idea about this, but dreamer and Martha seem to have some insight. So she knew how to read music? That's impressive. I play the piano but by ear as I was too bored to take my lessons seriously and now can't read music anymore! It's hard and extremely boring and I think you have to be very diciplined and patient to learn to read music so I'm almost surprised Kate had the patience for it lol she's a trooper!
You guys are sooo lucky to have gone to the public exhibit! Jealous (in a good way lol)!

Well she knew enough about music to identify key of C...or at least she thought it was key of C . And she did all the voice study with Roger Edens (?) later on, which- although her voice could only be taken so far- I'm guessing gave her a lot of knowledge of the theory, especially with Coco and having to deal with its score. Though of course that was long after Without Love and AQ.
